Another chapter of the frugal reefer. I had heard stories about the JBJ Temp Controller failing so I decided to make one of my own. I don't want to spend the money on a controller so I went this route.
The controller I got off eBay; it was about $15. The rest of the money was spent on an outlet/cover, project box and the wiring. The controller can be calibrated and it saves the settings in case of a power outage. I coated the probe in silicone bc it's metal. I might look into a plastic probe with a longer cord in the future. Wiring the unit is fairly simple.
The STC1000 is similar but this one (MH1210F) is a single relay and it measures in Fahrenheit.
