I dont know....but wouldnt the biopellets tumbling in there make a lot of noise bumping into the walls of the bottle?

I bet it would work, lol. You'll end up with the pellets in your sump once they get small enough to blast out the wholes in the top.

it will work better with one of those mixing nozzles on the pump like this http://reefbuilders.com/2012/02/27/biopellet-mixing-nozzle/. the better reactors spin the pellets instead of tumbling them, I have one of those now and like it alot better (the JNS alpha 1 reactor)
