In my 60 gallon rimless seahorse tank with 40B fuge we have had algae problems for the past year or so. I have tried it all and the two things that I think are causing it are the slower flow and tha mount of nutrients. I have been able to cut back the brown algae with Red Sea's no pox. However in its place bright green algae showed up. With all of the talk about Algae scrubbers and I know several of you just bought them in the recent group buy. I decided to give it a try
I found this design.

I had most of the materials laying around.
I will make a few posts since Tapatalk will only allow me to post a few pictures at a time.
I started with an old trash an that we had laying around and cut the bottom off:
I cut a piece of yarn matrix to fit the inside and drilled holes in the top and bottom for use to hang the material from at the top and some big holes at the bottom to let water in.
I also drilled a hole in the side where the air hose will go in
I then zip tied the yarn matrix to the top and put an airstone at the bottom.
Last was to add the airline and a few heater clips that I never use are repurposed to hold the algae scrubber.
I had this led panel from the refugium of my Biocube so for now it will light the scrubber
And finally all connected
Hopefully this will improve things in the seahose tank. If so I will post before and after pictures of the improvements.
