DIY Skimmer?

I have seen YouTube videos of DIY skimmers made from plastic bottles, has anyone tried this? Seems like a cool project -- I don't really care what it looks like as long as it skims. If you have tried this lmk how it worked and any tricks or tips.

This was without a pin wheel pump. If u switch it from the venturi to a pin wheel pump it would run better. U would only need to drill a bottle.

How did it go with building the skimmer? Sounded like a fun project!
