DK Unique Corals? off of craigslist!?

Every time I search "sps", "frags", or other reef related terminology on craigslist-chicago I run into an all caps ad for a vendor who includes the following info tucked into his ad which contains pics of really nice coral

"DK Unique Coral and Fish Sales where everyone gets instant 10 percent savings. home of the large colonies and the more you buy the greater the savings. Hundreds of large colonies in stock.

I AM LOCATED IN THE NORTHWEST SIDE OF CHICAGO 60631. CALL ME AT 773-919-0590 THANKS."

SO... I just wanted to know if anyone knows this seller, has visited, or if there is a seller feedback thread on this seller, he promises a large variety with cut rate prices, the pics on his sps ads look too good to be true, but I want to believe.

So shall I be the Guinea pig and go check things out,

Anyone want to chime in?

I have been there a couple of times. I would say quarantine everything you get from him. He does have great prices but you also get plenty of pests. I bought a zoa colonie and it came with zoa eating nudibranch and a bunch of worms Bubble algae. You get what you pay for...

Cost savings vs a some extra work. I may have to do some research or consider buying some coral dip product, a small quarantine tank for all of my future purchases, up until now I have been quite fortunate.

You should invest in coral dip regardless of who you buy coral from. It's the cheapest insurance around ;)

While this is great advice, I would still warn everyone that dipping is no way a guarantee to rid yourself of pests. Eggs are not affected by dips and neither is nuisance algaes...unless I buy from a friend or lfs I know is pest free, I would either QT or pass...

I went by there once.... His prices are retail prices the deals he give make you think your getting a good price. If you buy more your getting a deal but even that isn't a deal..

if his name is Ryan .. i think i got my biocube from him .. paid about $400 for a used one and tried to sell me a xenia frag for $20 ( would have bought it if i had cash on hand at that time)

There are lot of Good ppl on here with beautiful SPS and sell at very reasonable prices. but at the same time there are ppl who invite newbies to their homes and make money. Just watch out and talk to other ppl if you want nice stuff.

if i can take the chance. i have bought corals from below reefers and was extremely satisfied with pricing/size and color.
maidia (not sure if he frags sps though) , Shanko (his tank is amazing and worth seeing .. ), coral reeftank (amazing corals and amazing prices), ColaAddict, luchie ...the list goes on ..

Are you the guy who runs DK Corals?! I see what YOU DID THERE, lol. Yea, I will probably go since I do have a little free time coming up.

Negative, I have no connection. I thought about checking him out myself. I like to visit your local reef shops as i have nothing here locally (Wisconsin). Some times I get a kick out of you guys when people complain when they have to drive to the opposite end of Chicago to get a coral/fish you like. It takes me 2 1/2 hours just to get to chicago, not counting my drive while in chicago. Then drive the 2 1/2 hours back.

So take advantage of you reef shops down there and visit them often.

I have purchased things from him as well...I've gotten some really good deal. But I only buy right after fresh shipment arrive. There are pest without a doubt.

Yeah, It's pretty much impossible to sell anything on CL anymore...

and why that's ??? I don't sell anything but I buy a lot on CL and just bought a Semi Dump off craigslist yesterday and have to send a driver Sunday to pick it up .
