Not sure why u need a bunch of people to tell you to keep it. Like you said u have nothing to lose its not gonna harm anything it will live or it will die . Not sure if anybody can give u exact answer . I dont know many people who broke em and even if there is im sure its like anything else in this hobby where its a case by case basis . You should know within a week if turns brown get rid of it they smell when they die

I heard that if you have mangroves and a leaf falls off and lands in your tank , it will pollute your water , releasing all of the nitrates it had sucked up. Wouldn't it be the same with the mangrove splitting in half? I think it will die and release the same toxins IMO

because everyone has different insight or tips.. that's kinda of the info I was looking or any tips to help them live ...... sorry for sounding repetitive.. ill have to look after the nitrates a lil closer ..thanks guys

i've had them come back from a very dead looking state. These things are responsible for a lot of coral atoll islands because they wash up on newly formed land. I think they're prety dang tough. LOL. I love my mangroves, but I am prettty convinced you would need hundreds of them to actually impact nutrient export. To Steve's point, plants only consure nutrient when they grow and mangroves grow very slowly. One errant leaf will also set you back, though they are prey easy to keep tack of. In the end, for nutrient export chaeto can't be beat, but Mangroves are awesome in and of themselves.

i suppose if you let it completely rot away in your water it would put back ever bit of nutrient it took out by growing (or some bio-ratio thereof). The leaves are pretty dang easy to simply snatch out of the water though. Much easier than the poop they are made of anyway.
