It's still good enough considering you get a full working camera for the same price. Consider it a free lens for the collection. A GOOD everyday use lens is going to cost more than the camera body it's attached to.

A lot of the better lenses (without getting into the crazies) are around $100-$300. And even most professionals (my wife worked for a wedding photographer for several years) use 3rd party lenses because the difference is minimal.
