i've read about people using PVC cement if that helps. . .

Envirotex Lite. I just did it myself. PVC Cement doesn't adsorb properly. It's not meant to. Envirotex is a coating epoxy meant to be self leveling, so as it you add sand to it, it evenly distributes everything, making it fill out. PVC cement just sticks to the top.

Get it from Michaels craft store. They always have a 50% off one item coupon. I got the 32oz kit for $16.

Yea going to use pink foam board and pond foam kinda like great stuff but made for ponds and cover with sabd and drift wood

If I could get decent pics I'd throw up some of my faux sand bed. Not exactly the same as what you're doing, but still. Glass is so thick the light reflects when I try and take a pic, lol.
