Flame RBTA splitting AGAIN and AGAIN!!!!

OMG, my flame nem split 6mo ago and to avoid it stinging stuff I half of it to my dungeon QT (no maintenance, just top off 1/mo and chaeto in tank)....there are now 3 in the dungeon.

And this week the one in my DT split on Sunday and again on Tuesday!!! There are now 3 in my DT!!!!! AGHGHHGHHHHHH!!!!

I bought this sweet looking "flame" RBTA from Reefwise about 18mo ago for $100...and it often looks great, but it keeps changing on me....from rosey red to orange...from bubbles to stringy...from striations to polka dot looking....and BACK and forth!

It is a WEIRD critter!!!!

I'm not really into wheelin' and dealin'....but now that I have 5 more than I need! Maybe they'd be good for trades?
 
Split seems to like being in the acclimation box up near the T5 coral+

I had one of these a few years back. I used to feed it pretty regularly. At some point, I stopped taking care of the tank well - rarely did water changes, bulbs were far past their prime (and my lighting wasn't great anyway) and stopped target feeding it. It split. Then split again. and again. I ended up with 17 total that I brought to Living Sea for store credit.

Definitely seems like a stress response. I most often noticed a split just after changing water or disturbing the sandbed and making things cloudy. The next morning, there'd be three where only one was.

If it does it again, see if you can catch it in the act - it's super cool to watch!

FWIW if you end up removing the extras, I found picking at the foot slowly with a long fingernail until you can peel it off worked best. If not that, the corner of a credit card.
