frag tank organization

Who has system for tracking frags in their frag tank. My stuff gets moved around and then I don't know what is what. Any of you old fraggers have suggestions.

Thanks

I usually Number everything w/ a black sharpie (reefsafe when dry) w/ corresponding written list. Then that list has the vendor, price paid, # of polyps (for growth) and sometimes purchase date. (Like the "lists" I had at the last CMAS Swap).

write a number on the side and/or bottom of the plug in sharpie then keep a spreadsheet of the numbers and their names. I find that any WYSIWYG frag I get has something written on it some where. Maybe use a prefix for each coral type and then you can tell which ones are moving the fastest. A for acans and Z for zoas and such. if you're on A-238 and Z-001 then you know your acans are cooler than your zoas. LOL.

Im using a dry erase board in my sump room , easily can mark all the info u want there and I take a picture of each frag when they open or fish when its put in the tank (I also keep track of them .qt.where I bought from and so on)and a sharpie mark on bottom of frag tiles . Good luck will !!

Will this is a great question. I was looking at my stuff the other day and some of them I am convinced I may have duplicates of.

I like the sharpie ideas here. I'm going to start doing that with a spreadsheet.

if its purely a frag growout system you can do rows with labels on the outside of the tank labeling each row ala

Will a sharpie work on a wet plug?

It is just a grow out system but 24x24 and like 25+ singles

No, gotta wipe/rub the plug dry first but ive done it to plugs that were already submersed - Just gotta get them dry, then let the sharpie air dry for a bit and your good to go. Also easier if you can pre-number dry plug before you start cutting/fragging.
