Fragging Xenia

I'm still very new to fragging. My Xenia has grown from one stalk to almost 12"x12". I'm looking for some input on how to frag this coral. I thought it was cool to see something grow so fast but my gosh. It grows faster than the weeds in my yard.

I almost never frag it you lay small rocks on top of it and wait for it to cover them then remove the rocks as frags

YOU GROW WEED IN YOUR YARD :stoned: yea it can be a pia , people who do keep it try to keep on a island and seperate due to its ability to take off . fragging is easy as cutting stalk at the rock , i had luck sticking a tooth pick thru base and gluing the toothpick . and container with some rubble works too just wait till it grabs on , alot of folks will just pif fresh cuts as a option as well . good luck and depending on tank size dont cut alot and make sure you run carbon if fragging in tank

Yea most of us just give this stuff away. you just cut a few stalks with a pair of scissors at the base where attached to the rock... and 3 will show up in its place lol. its a curse really

You frag it by giving it away as fast as you can and never look back. Xenia are like the hot "girls" you see on Maury...ooooooo, look it's pom pom and moving. Then you realize one day that chick is a tranny and you're grossed out and question WTF was I thinking.

burn it now!

Hm... lol I don't even know how to respond to the comment above... but yeah. Coral rubble on top/around the xenia. It'll attach and it's ready to go. Or you could try to use a razor to frag it and let a torch or hammer take care of the rest ;).

You've been warned. I keep a tranny free tank :) haha.

Honestly though, get yourself some decent tools for fragging. I started by using normal household tools that quickly rusted (I'm not so bright).

Enjoy man & good luck!

You can thin it out by removing the whole stalk rather than cutting it. Whatever is left after you cut will grow again. Use something very thin to get under the stalk and peel it off your rock. I usually just flush my Xenia now but there are still buyers out there. If you wanted to sell some, let the stalks attached to some substrate or rubble rock.

Thanks for the responses, I will try the rubble idea and see how it works. Meanwhile I'm going to look into a nice fragging kit for the future.

Get out to American Science and Surplus off Roosevelt I believe in Batavia they have stainless steel surgical tools for cheap and thats basically all a fragging kit has.

Fragging kit? Maybe for you high rollers! ;) I use a X-Acto knife and single edge razor blades. I also have a pair of side cutting pliers.

whatever rock it's on, take it off your rockwork and put it on the sand, all by itself, unless you want an all xenia tank. this thing can easily take over your entire tank. Once you isolate it on an island rock, its easy to just cut it with scissors or blade, then you can rubberband it on a piece of rock or frag plug and it will attach itself.
