hello maybe someone can give me a hand i am going to start fragging some of the corals in my tank i usually take to lfs for free hard to tell him how i want cut and if someone wants a frag while at my house its a pain not to be able to cut something so if i were to use a dremmel which cutting blade to use im sure most will do jut fine however if one works better than another good to know

I thing this is what your asking for because it was hard to understand what you were asking :)

I use a diamond blade with my dremel. And I hope you don't put it int he tank! ;)

What are you fragging? Soft, Lps, sps? Soft corals can usually just be cut with tissue nippers, and sps with a cheap pair of stainless bone cutters is enough. Depending on the type of Lps, the bone cutters work, or you may need a wet saw for acan, favia etc...

Diamond bit. Thanks exactly where I was going with that. Gonna chop up a very large Duncan colony some frogspawn maybe torch some zoas from a plug these already split from each other so wanna do the same. Some birdnest maybe my candycane. Used cutters but they seem to smash instead of a clean cut. Thanks

For the branching lps ive used the vehicle dremel bit. Looks like a drill bit cause it's hard to get a wheel between the branches. All the sps just snip with bone cutters.

Remember safety glasses!

You are more than welcome to bring anything you would like in to us at mcf and we will frag it for you however you want free of charge. We use a wet saw that makes very clean cuts. Let me know!

thanks blake if i ever have anything expensive or more importantly something im not confident in cutting i will take it to the pros i just went a bit crazy and chopped up a colony of candycanes with the larger cutting wheel made it easy had to make another frag rack but nothing wrong with that noe to see if i did it correctly and see if they live

It's easy with a dremmel, it just depends on what kind of coral you want to frag. SPS I use bone cutters, LPS I usually use a dremmel and a razor blade depending on what it is.
