Freshwater vs saltwater

My brother in law has 2 tanks. 1 55 gallon planted and 1 10 gallon fake decoration freshwater.

He wants to upgrade the 10 to a 20 and saltwater crossed his mind.

I told him to have a freshwater and salt water tank.

Let's try and convince him to do this.

I have a bunch of base rock and 240 lbs of reef flakes along with a CPR Aquafuge 2 with protein skimmer and a couple used nano sized ph's.

Told him all he would need is the bigger tank.

Then if he decides to do coral a better light and a ph or 2

So let's convince him!

I had 2 75's at one point. One fresh, one salt. Eventually shut down the fresh... Just liked the salt more.
 
I have a 20H for free if he'd like it. It's drilled on one side (one bulkhead), so he'd have to plumb over the top or just plug it if he wouldn't sump. I love planted and if I had the space I'd definitely have both.
 
In my house I have 2 salt and 2 fresh, the salt is more demanding which is 1 thing for him to think about.
 
I was running a 100g fresh and a 75g salt. I eventually got bored with the fresh and took it down
 
I have 1 planted and 1 reef. Before I got into saltwater it felt like the freshwater took some work to keep it looking nice. Now it feels like it runs itself!
