Glass Drill Bits?

I'm looking for good quality glass drill bits any recommendations?

Has anyone here used Overflow kits or bits from glass-holes.com? The flow rates on their Overflows seems low, only 700 gph with a 1 1/2" bulkhead? I thought you could get over 1200 gph with a 1 1/2" bulkhead??

you are not going to get anywhere near that much with a 1.5 inch bulkhead, typically are rated for 600gph or less. glass holes are the best.

If you just need to borrow a bit, I have them for 1/2", 3/4", and 1". Heck, if you bring the tank, I can drill it for yah! :D

The reason for the lower gph is their overflow are not a full siphon. 1.5" bulkhead under a full siphon will flow a ton of water.

I got my glass drill bit from Amazon.com. It was cheap and it worked well.

How many holes did you get out of that $4 bit?

Thanks for the offer but I want to buy the bits and drill the tanks myself.

Looks like I'll be buying the bits from glass-holes.com.

Thanks

Found this on the RC website.
http://www.reefcentral.com/index.php/drainoverflow-size-calc

Using the following input parameters
Gallons per Hour = 1300

Drain and Overflow sizes are calculated as
Recommended minimum drain pipe diameter = 1.49 inches
Recommended minimum linear overflow size = 20 inches

those are just assumed ideal thruput... does not take into account fluid dynamics.. you are going to suck air and burp.. real world is much less

I would recommend the glass holes stuff...I built my overflow boxes after looking through their website. I have two overflows with the 1.5 in bulkheads running a mag12 as my return pump and they keep up just fine. Just be sure to follow instructions! I'm in McHenry if you're close and need a hand.
