Goofy hermits

Ever since I put this clam in my tank my hermits barely leave its side. Just wondering if this is a common occurrence with anybody else.

Some of my hermits like to hang out in 1 place during the day as well. Re-check the area at night, and they should be out and about. Hope that helps.

I guess a side track but I'm done with hermits! I spend up to $3 for snails and 50 cents for a hermit and the hermits end up killing the snails for their shells.

It's good practice to provide empty shells as they grow so they don't go after the snails. The couple crabs I've had survive the trigger come out at night when it sleeps. I used to see them molt all the time

If you just added the clam, they are cleaning and eating whatever came in on the base. Any time I add a new coral or rock, they tend to gravitate to it until they have scoured it. hth

I love the Halloween hermit, cute and working hard, not bother other snail or other hermit. I bought 10 Tonga nassarius snail last week, these snail are great... they work so hard at night when everyone else sleeping...keep my sand so clean in the morning...they get out from the bottom of sand bed and hovering around the tank cleaning the sand..will buy more...

Clams been in there for a good 2 months. I've had a pair of Halloween hermits d spine my urchin. Got rid of them real quick. Spines grew back thank god.
