growing sps and zoas together

Is it safe for zoas to be touching sps? If the grow around it, will one kill the other? Mine aren't close but just wondering if I should plan a relocation of one of them when they do start getting too close.

I find that the zoas will grow onto the sps in some cases and the sps will start to recede. Ive also seen zoas recede from my monti. As far as zoas being in close proximity; ive read that if you dont run adequate carbon the zoas or sps may stop growing. some argue that putting them near each other will cause growth spurts. Ive run only nano tanks and have owned lots of corals. The only issue i ever had was with leather corals. Nothing grows in my tanks with leathers. One last thing. Zoas like high nutrients in most cases; sps can tolerate it, but color will be lacking. Some acros simply wont survive unless you run close to ULN. Finding a perfect medium is difficult for me in my tiny tanks.

Good info ^^^
I have zoas right now that are overtaking a small monti cap and a my digitata. Luckily I have not had them run up on my acro's (I'll kill 'em before that happens.) I would not want them touching even if there doesn't appear to be a struggle because there could still be chemicals released which is no good.

I think my tank is perfect in terms of nutrients. SpS aren't browning and zoas are growing nicely.

I guess I will have to give a test then with a cheap sps and zoa and see how they react. I have rocks isolated with just zoas and others with just sps so they I shouldn't have a problem between the two of them but I would like to cover all the small gaps eventually that are between the sps.

The zoas will grow straight over a monti or flat sps and kill just that part. I've seen ppl glue zoas in the middle of large monti and let em grow out. It looks really cool.

I did read one definitive report of the monti winning. It didn't look like the zs were sting nor the monti. The monti simply grew over em. The zs may survive growing on top, but a grudge match for space will leave the monti as victor.
