Working in the tank and my new hammer coral packs quite a sting. OUCHIE!!!

Me either found out the hard way. Kina felt like a bee sting and about the same size whole on my finger. He's lucky I like him ..lol
Atleast is wasn't as bad as when I got it from an urchin. F

Oh wow! I had a large colony and never stung. Does it hurt? Any marks?

Sounds like you just cut yourself on a sharp piece of the coral's skeleton.

Def treat seriously. I cut my finger in my tank one and it was swollen for day. Pretty uncomfortable. The saltwater makes u a bit more prone to infection. My finger was a bit worse tho. Idk if hammer did something like that.

I am guessing it was that since that was the only thing I was touching. Not sure but it sure got my attention.

i have had raw patches like that after messing with my tank never knew what from.

That's what I was wondering. None of my hammers ever sting me and I'm smackin' 'em around all the time. Their skeleton can be razor sharp.
