hanging light

the likelihood of the joists or rafters (Studs go up and down) being where you want it is like 5% (-5% if I were doing it). Try looking for something like these: Ceiling anchors

then you can be the designer instead of the architect who drew your plans. :)

Edit: I think it's joists. Rafters are the angle of the roof. I should probably Google this now (Herbie rule: Smarty pants fail has to stay public) lol

Those anchors are ok just watch how much weight your going to put on those wall anchors. If there is a way for you to get in attic ,you can set a piece of wood in between the joists and use that as a backer to screw onto. Like stated before those anchors are pretty good under the right conditions , remember your putting all the weight on drywall alone. If there was any humidity from evaporation , that drywall will soften and the drywall will give with considerable weight.

When I hung my lights from the ceiling I found the joists/studs/wood w/ a stud-finder and then screwed a 2x4 (painted white like my ceiling) to several of them to take the weight - then i just used a couple Eye-Hooks to hang my lights from.

who buys a stud finder for two holes jk. my brother told me I can tell buy a knock. thanks
