Have a question about adding sump!

I want to add a sump with refugium to my existing tank. I don't know if i should add the LR only or live sand only..whichone is better? or both?
I'm planning to add only LR and Chaeto.
What do you think?

I have sand, rock and chaeto in mine and it seems to be working well for me.

What size of tank will you be using for your sump?

I bought a 29g biocube and it came with the sump
I guest the sump should be around 10 or 15g

For a cube :what: I will just do cheato only to keep it easy to clean.
