Hey guys,

I joined this site over the summer and I started a build thread over at RC and never started one here with my 75gal, so here it goes. 1st part is gonna be mostly cut and paste...

Starting the build:

Front of the tank:

Overflow:

Back of the tank, shows the homemade light hanging brackets... didn't want to hang from ceiling:

Sump (Flows as follows: From the right:Overflow chamber/protein skimmer area>Refugium area>uturn to return pump)

Sunlight Supply 250watt DE pendants cleaned, refinished, and waiting!

Just used a layer of thin plastic on the back wall where the tank will be going to prevent corrosion of the wall or paint peel:

Out with the old, In with the new! 75gal Tank moved inside the house!

Sump's in the stand!

DSC_0130-3.jpg

20 lbs of Crushed coral in, 10 lbs of #5 aragonite sand in, ~40 lbs of 10 year old live sand from a local shark tank and filled almost half way!
DSC_0131-3.jpg

That picture was taken when the water is really cloudy... It's settled a little bit now but it's only been about 3 hours. It's probably settling slowly cuz i have a powerhead in there to keep the gas exchange for the bacteria in the sand.

Filled up! With a little leak at first in the plumbing, but fixed that and kept on going! Started on some aquascaping: (aquascaping is a big different now since that collapsed due to stupid urchin):

More pics:

Decided to install a one way check valve on the return side, spring kind:

WON 350watt titanium heater:

Protein skimmer at work:
DSC_0132-3.jpg

Overflow, added another 90degree elbow to bring the pipe underwater and it's **** quiet now:
DSC_0133-2.jpg

Added a new loc line fitting so i could have 2 loc line outlets:
DSC_0139-2.jpg

Lastly, I got 17lbs of smaller pieces of live rock to make the aquascape I wanted, i love the lagoon style and after about an hour only doing the aquascape, here's what i came up with for the right side of the tank... this is 17lbs of the larger live rock that i got yesterday and made the shape with the larger pieces. Then used some of the larger fuge rubble I had and stacked it. I'm loving it so far! Also used some of that JB weld Water Weld to hold some of the smaller pieces in place, pretty stout structure overall though! I got very lucky and many of the pieces locked together very well.

Also, after running it for about 5 hours now, the water cleared up almost instantly. Very happy! I got a few powerheads in there for now just to keep the water flowing a lot.

Everything Moved over to the 75gal from the 29gal!!
And update! Here are the pics :) I tried my best on the aquascaping to make lots of caves and crevices on the left side. Overall, i like the way it looks! I wanted to do something more creative this time, rather than the pile of rocks look in my 29gal.

So here's the update! Everything looks way different than it was before so let me know what you guys think!

It's hosted in my xenia forest for the longest time but for some odd reason, today, it decided to hop over to the nems... i'm afraid the nems are still too small and the GSM is gonna kill it... :( What to do?

Lmk what you guys thing! I'll have a FTS sometime soon, i totally forgot to get one today, now the lights are off again.

feed those nems and they will grow really fast i was feeding mine silversides and shooting it with mysis they grow quick other than that looks great good job

Looks very nice. Just a piece of advice though. You can not mix all of those shrimp together they will kill one another + Camels aren't reef safe. You probably don't want to mix anemones up. Flame angel is 50/50 on coral nipping. Maroon will probably outgrow the 75 and become probably the most aggresive fish in there. Again just a piece of advice. Looks great either way! :thumb:

Eh, the shrimps with the exception of the fire shrimp and camels haven been together since the 29. I didnt know the camels weren't reef safe... All they do is chill in this corner of the tank and I rarely see them out. I'm on the fence on the flame angel too, although I've not seen it go for my sps yet. But a maroon outgrowing a 75gal?! Never heard of that... I thoight u were gonna say something about the tangs. Haha.

And i do feed the nems. Not silversides tho. Just krill and mysis with the occational raw shrimps we cook to eat. I hope they grow quick! My last two nems didn't make the tank swap and prob the other maroon I had back then being rough with the nem didn't help either...

i hear ya when it gets a bit larger i meant lol would be funny to see a lil nem take down a silverside and i have all those shrimp in my tank except camel and they are fine as well some are lucky with them some arent just the game we play

yea... i'm not sure about those camels but they just stay in the corner and i never see them come out so i'm not worried. I've been pretty lucky so far with my fish... My sixline is peaceful(added in last) and so is my maroon... The sixline likes to weave thru the Maroon's xenia forest and no nipping or biting ever :)

Helitaiwan963 looks great so far. My favorite part is your zoa garden. Don't forget to add new pictures when you update!

But a maroon outgrowing a 75gal?! Never heard of that... I thoight u were gonna say something about the tangs.

I guess I worded it wrong. It can pretty large and become very aggressive in the tank to the point of not letting you put your hands in the tank and aggressiveness towards other fish. Yea the reason why I didn't say the yellow tang is cause I've seen them in smaller tanks that they are supposed to be and they tend to do well. The blue I can say the same thing

ahh yea... I've read that as well... but it's been pretty peaceful thus far so i'll keep an eye on it...

Woot! New skimmer today. Still breaking in...

Purchased it from a local member today. Told me it was a ASM G2 but it looks like a ASM G3 due to the pump. It's a Sedra 5000 instead of the Sedra 3500 pump that comes with the G2... The dimensions are so similar so it's hard to tell, to lazy to measure the footprint now that it's in the sump already. haha. Even the body diameter is the same between the G2 and G3...

Update! Got 2x 110 VHO's yesterday with 2 super actinics. So i decided to take some pics of the coral under the actinics this morning.

First off... The ASM G3 is doing awesome, it pulls out some nasty stuff.
