Howdy,

Just wanted to take some time to introduce myself -- I have just started to set up my new 55g mixed reef tank (thinking of going LPS & SPS). Please let me know what you think about the start of this build. Also, are there any meet ups / munches in the area ? Hopeful that I can meet some of you in real life at some point.

Welcome to the forum. Tell its a little about your equipment. The rock layout looks Nice. There is a section called announcements that week show you when is what. There is a aurora mini meet up next weekend and a big frag swap in may. Hope you have fun with us here. Its always Nice to have new members.

Welcome, looks like you are just starting your tank. Ask a lot of questions and post a detailed plan to start you tank. If you are open to feedback, changes now could save you a lot of headaches down the road. I wish I knew about the forum when I started.

+1, even though I knew about these forums and did my research I still wish I would have asked more questions. The next big frag swap is coming up is May, but people are always selling something under marketplace. Have fun and Welcome.
 
Hey Guys and Gals --

Right now my equipment is fairly sparse -- just a 55gallon with Marineland HOB Filter and small power head.

I plan on upgrading to a 10-20 (the largest i can fit in my stand) gallon Sump/Refugium with Reef Octopus Skimmer - with eventual reactors and kalkwasser. I am torn on lighting -- thinking of going LED but due to budget constraints might go HOT5.

Any recommendations ?

LED is the better route to go. For the price of a good T5 you can get into a decent LED. Like the cc_120
