Help with Clams

Anyone have thoughts on what might be eating Maxima clams?

Everything in tank quite healthy... older system. Parameters stable (just got ATI water test results nothing out of whack) but have lost 3 Maxima clams that seemed to be perfectly healthy up until they show up empty shells the next morning. So mantle is colored up nicely, extending from shell, and clam respond very well to light changes and close up completely. I was real diligent about the last one, spot feeding with phyto and looked just like i got it up until empty shell.

My crushed coral bed is not very deep, and i have had them either on the bed itself, or on top of old shell..

I would just take my medicine and give up on them if they had been showing signs of stress but again not noticing any signs of problems. (SPS growing fine too)

Thanks if any thoughts.

I've also found that all species tend to do better closer to the surface on rocks but especially Maxima clams. Just make sure they're not so high that they're exposed when you do a water change.
