Help with high phosphates

Ok. I test everything but nitrates and phos. My swc and fuge seem to take care of water quality. I usually have my lfs test those two. Well they tested 0 nitrates and. 25 phosphate. With an Api test kit. I can not imagine my sps dominated tank with awesome colors and no algea at all anywhere had phos that high. I run the correct amount of brs gfo. I'll be buying a Hanna checker this weekend. I have noticed that my cheato is slowly dieing off too. Any ideas anyone. Should I believe this test. They teste . Twice.

its probably the test. its not a bad idea to get the hanna. i havent used mine in a year. but its good to have.

Ok. I'm ordering it tonight. I'm gonna replace my gfo too. I seriously doubt it's that high. I would be having algea and color in sps issues right?

i don't see how it would be possible to run gfo and have it that high unless you haven't replaced your gfo in a very long time.

And the cheato is probably dying off from the gfo stripping the water of the nutrients.

Ok. Cool. I was freaking out a little bit. I don't believe the Api test. Also I have been running gfo with the chaeto and even trimmed up the chaeto too. Still dying. Not sure what to do with it. Oh well. My skimmer wasn't running as good as it is the last couple months. So maybe that it to. Killing the cheato. And I'm being better about doing wc
