When I started my first tank back in July I had this small (1/4in) crab that was all white. It was very interesting to watch and after reading all about crabs I decided to tank it out. But it ran away and actually buried itself in the aragonite.
Few months later saw it again and got bigger.
Another few months saw a bigger and way different crab. Tried taking it out but couldn't and didn't want to take everything out of the tank just to get the guy.
Didn't bother me until started moving my corals around and digging caves under the rocks. Last straw when he moved my 3head hammer coral attached to large 3.5in rock. That crab must be super strong!!!!
Anyway, I ripped my tank apart to get him. Threw him in a container and he bunch up into a pebble like formation and after a while resumed his normal stance.
Wanted to keep him but had nowhere to put him so gave him to a friend that collects hitchhiker crabs.
