how do you guys take tank down pics?

What you could also do is buy a cheap magnifying glass and attached it the bottom of a plastic container. Cut a hole at the bottom of a plastic container and silicone the magnifying glass so that is seals the bottom. You can submerge the bottom of the container into the water and take a picture of the magnified coral. You would probably go with auto focus with this method though.

Just checked out the site and is more mobile compared to the box that hooks onto the edge of the tank. Does that support SLR lens?

Anyone have any experience with them?

I never hook this to the edge.It is a mobile as you want. I attach my DSLR camera with the screw to the box and can submerge this about 6in. deep without worrying that my camera will get wet.It is protected from all sides from water, not just the lenses. That Avast porthole looks cool ,but you have to be a lot more careful not to get water on your camera.I did look at this before making my decision to get the box.JMO.
