how long without filtration?

Im purchasing a tank, complete with sump, live rock, sand, coral, fish. (not keeping the sand, maybe a ziplock full if any)

So with the purchase of this 57g, im getting a 29g and a 20g.

I am picking up tomorrow and have a few questions.

I want to clean the tank and sump really good before I set everything up.

here is my plan, I plan to put the live rock the 29g with a power head, and coral and livestock in the 20g with a power head, both using his water. I am also getting a 48" fixture I can temporarily mount above both tanks.

How long will my livestock be ok without any filtration? Im thinking max 24-48 hours to get the tank set up and ready for his water, plus some fresh ro water, or would it stress the livestock to much?

I really don't want any of the rock/fish/coral it but it does have value and is reflected in the price i paid and he would not separate. I will list it all for sale to try to make some money back, once everything gets settled in. Would a week or 2 be ok? or should I wait longer?

thanks in advance for the input.

If ur worried that much about filtration. Just buy a hang on filter ... Like an aqua clear or something.

U can sell the fish, live stock as soon as u want. No need to wait. Most people here quarantine their fish anyways.

U can use 50% of his water and new salt water... Just acclimate everything over 30-45 min. Should be ok. Just like buying new stock and putting it in ur tank. It came from someone elses system

As long as you can put a decent of LR with the coral, that is the filtration. That's the beauty of saltwater :)

Be careful not too leave the liverock out for too long. you can potentially kill some of the biological bacterial hosting the rock. In any case i dont see much of an issue as longs as you do a waterchange on the QT tank within 48 hrs. What kind of coral we talkin? The fish will be fine in a qt tank alone with a cheap hob like rosko stated. Unless your feeding like crazy while in qt then i dont expect any spikes.

acans, polyps, frogspawn, hammer, some lps/sps
