how much live rock

I was thinking or redoing my 75 gal. with all Marco or reef saver. I don't care for the look of a rock pile. Could I get away with a fifty pound box? I have a sump that I could add some rubble and maybe another ten pounds?

Its your taste!!! You make it work regardless on the amount of rock your using.. Some folks are just crazy and like to have 200lbs in a 75gal :screwy:

John, I have a 40b full of liverock, should be plenty to come up with some nice scape. Lots of nice pieces with good shapes. I kinda want to get that tank taken down in the garage. If u wanna come look at the rock, u take whatever u want for $2/lb?

Sure you could. Some people prefer the minimalist look in the display tank, but make up for it by have lots of different filtration in the sump/refugium.

+1 Correct!!

Jon, in the picture that looks great!! You should have no problems on keeping NO3 and phosphate in check with that layout.

From what I've heard they are similar "dry rock" so no risk of pest or hitchhikers. I have dealt with Marco with good success but "reef saver" is BRS I believe. I'm ginna follow along to see what the smart people have to say?

i have a brute half full of marco Rock - dry has been used in my tank previously - its been outside for 3 months. I would like to offer it to you for $2 a pound.

im in park ridge.

My offer is for everyone - naturally.

You should check out reefrocks.net... Same as marco and reefsaver, but $85 shipped for 50lbs, my order came with 54lbs. You also get to add the option of 40lbs of very well rinsed sand for $15 shipped, if you order 50lbs of rock. The sand is nice and white, very few misc shells mixed in. They will also cut a few pieces in half for free, so you have a good flat base to buld from. Really fast shipping and good communication.

That's crazy... I ordered 100lbs from him. Never heard from him... Took 3 weeks to get here... I filed a PayPal claim and the next day I had a tracking number. I had emailed him over 5 times and called like 6 times. Nothing... But ericthered said his experience was like urs. Guess I caught him on bad time.

That is weird! I placed my order and asked if he could give me a few flat cuts. He emailed that night saying that would be no problem. Rocks shipped out the day after I ordered. Rocks showed up, but the post office misplaced the sand. He shipped out a 2nd box of sand before I even had a chance to message about the shipping error. Then a week later, the first box showed up at my house.

it all depends on when he gets his batches of rock in. same thing happens to jeff (totalpetsplus) with his rock, if the quarry is behind on filling orders, the sellers have to wait to send it out.
