How to "clean" dry rock

If u have a power washer u can clean that way. Soaking in vinegar-water mix will also get rid of dried up organics on the rock

I used a Cheap electrical power washer then let it sit in peroxide and water 50/50 mix. For 10 min. Then power washed again.

+1 to both suggestions...you could also boil it in a pot of water on the stove.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. Don't ever boil rock unless you want to die. I made that mistake, I thought everyone has learned of that by now.

Is it clean dry rock from say BRS? If so just swish it in RO/DI water.

I've done it once when I had my 55gal, and I didn't have any issues...what happened to you when you did it bro?

I read that there can be air pockets in the rock which expand with heating; that can cause the rock to explode. If there's organic material on the rock I want to get rid of I use a bleach bath. (There are some that are totally against the use of bleach.) I rinse the rock well a few times and let it dry completely.

Rock is porous and I don't think you can really get all the bleach out once you use it. I personally like vinegar better.

Yeah, that's one of the higher priorities on my tank list. I wouldn't have thought of that; thanks for the warning you two!

Ah, never thought of that. If I had a rock with Paly/Zoas, I would just trade it for clean dry rock; no cleaning necessary! :)

I would of too. This was "clean" dry rock, however it had dried up palys/zoas on it that you would of never seen. The rock was dry for months if not a year. Here's my story:

Same here. It's really important not to die in this hobby.

Lol! Same here.

You can use a power washer with a mix of white distilled vinegar. Dont use apple cider. If you dont have a power washer then use a hose with an attachment. Then just let I sit in the sun for 2 or 3 days which wont be hard with this drougt.
