How to frag a torch coral?

I have a torch coral that needs to be fragged, but I am not quite sure how to go about it. My main concern is that the branches I want to cut still have flesh on them and from what I read you are supposed to cut where there is no flesh. Any suggestions on how to go about it? Thanks.

What you read is pretty much it. A very thin hobby saw or a cutting wheel on a dremel. Cut stalks off the colony at least an inch tall or more. For small clusters just sever them at the base where they branch out.

Do NOT use handheld bone cutters.

How come no bone cutters? Bone cutter might crush the entire stalk? Just curious, I have some frogspawn I will need to frag in a few months and I have both bone cutters and dremel.

Yes bone cutters will just crush the stalk and potentially injure or kill the polyps you are trying to frag. Euphyllia is very delicate when fragging.

Thanks George. So, it is okay to cut at the bottom of the branch even if there is flesh there?

How about just selling it to someone with a larger tank & buying a smaller one?

I am the guy with the large tank, lol. The only reason I am fragging it is 2 heads have hit the back glass and have no more room to grow and aren't getting much light because of the rest of the colony.

If you have to go thru flesh to make the frag, cut as far as absolutely possible towards the base of that branch. No guarantee that the polyp doesn't extend that far down inside the branch as well, so it's a risk u need to decide to take.

Hmmm...I didn't realize that. I would have thought with the size of these branches it would have lost its flesh at the base of it, but no such luck. No I have to think about it.

I'd love to see a pic of this beast!

I will try and snap a pic when it is expanded (my light just kicked on), but it is about size of a cantaloupe. I bought it with with three or four heads now there are at least triple that. Definitely one of my favorite pieces even though it is only your plain green torch. The movement is great.
