How to lower ALK ??????

Been adding 2 part Lil fishies to raise Calcium and pushed ALK up , did a 15 % water change this afternoon and brought it down slightly . read up on dropping it with muriatic acid and instead of going down it went up .....Grrrrrrrrrrrrr

I tend to let my Alk come down on its own, either reduce the dose or stop dosing until it gets where you want it.

Change water (not too much) little by little ever 1 or 2 days may help...Stop the 2 parts for now. Take it easy or you will shock the corals.

I think he PM me said Alk at 22 now.

I found alk and dkh being high far better than being too low . Top off will also gradually lower alk . Be careful with sudden change . Chalices can go to skeletons in a day .

my ALK was at 23.5 this morning i did a water change and brought it down to 22.2 after reading some Randy Holmes on Reef Central i figured i'd give the muriatic acid a try so i added 20 ML to 5 gallons and aerated for 30 mins and put it sump and raised my ALK now to 26.0 i'm baffled .. the tank Calc is at a 450 ,mag at 1450, PH at 8.2

not triple but double checked have a drawer full of them ... Calcium was low due to adding a bunch of new Coral so stupid me used lil fishies part A & B and as i raised the Calcium i pushed the ALK up ..lesson learned bought a Tub of turbo calcium and raised it with 2 tablespoons instead of 1200 ml of 2 part ...live and learn fingers crossed that all the corals dont notice a thing while i bring ALK back down to 8 .

I think based on other parameters it's not the end of world . If corals look ok just back off and do small water changes in moderation not every day that could shock tank .

Thanks John , how long would you suggest b4 next water change ? 2,3,5 days ??? All the Corals look great and whats even weirder is after the Muraitic Acid they look awesome the best i've ever seen them .even my girl just asked me what i did different when i fed today at 6.00 cuz everything looks awesome and HUGE .....
