Howdy!

Hey all!

My name is Neil, I'm from Gurnee, and this will be my first venture into reefing! I'm pretty excited but taking it very slow as to not get ahead of myself. I have experience with planted freshwater tanks, and a buddy who lives 5 minute away that has several SW Tanks set up in his house. When he is not around it's nice to know there are some "local" people I can pose questions too.

Anyway I hope to post pictures of my build progression once it's officially started (should be very soon).

I will be using a cadlights 18g Mini II tank for the build and am pretty excited about it.

Anyway I hope to utilize this site and your expertise for the duration of my build and beyond!

When saying hello, please feel free to post a word of advise, tips or any other helpful info you can share!

Welcome Neil. Here's my advice:

  1. Read, read some more, and then read some more. Between this and the national forums, almost every question has been asked. I've found that if I have an idea, someone else has already thought about it and discussed it online.
  2. Prepare to spend a lot of money. There are always upgrades to be made and there really isn't a cheap way to do this hobby.
  3. Don't skimp on your skimmer.
  4. Go slow. Don't buy livestock until your tank is fully ready.

Good luck!

Hey neebles,

Welcome and good project you've got lined up. I'll be interested to see what you decide theme-wise.
