Identify starfish -help!

Trash it they eat coraline algae and been thought to eat zoasonce they run out of otherfood i forget name but had thousand had to but two harliquin shrimp and manual removal over moths to get rid of them

I'm pretty sure they are called asterina or something like that. They can possibly nip at corals and can be taken out with harlequin shrimp

Yeah I have asterina in my 93 cube and have a harlequin shrimp that has eaten most of them. This one is different as it has a pinkish color to it. Research suggests it is a coral eater. Looks like I will be keeping the harlequin longer :-)

They mostly nip at LPS such as Acans. There's an episode on American reef channel that explains how the guy got rid of them with harlequin shrimp

+1 harlequins. I had a major problem of them over populating my 75 and within 4 weeks the shrimp cleaned house. Bad news for zoas.

Weed or flower is in the eye of the beholder :)

I know some folks that introduced them because they don't like coralline algae!

I've got a few and can't say I've seen much negative...they haven't multiplied like rabbits and they haven't been spotted on corals. I see them here and there on the walls of my tank eating coralline...so I've left them alone.
YMMV
