New to forum but I've had my tank for a while. I have a 12-14? Gal nano cube tank. My son got me into the hobby and I've stood back while he made my tank capable of handling coral. We have done some pretty significant changes to the original setup which my son advertised as an easy all in one great for a person who doesn't want all the extraneous stuff associated with his large tank setup. Fortunately for me he has handled the modifications. The tank needed a chiller because of its original location in a house with no ac which was a great modification since it now sits in my high school science classroom which often does not have ac either. He retrofitted a very nice led lightight into the space where the old light fixture was in the hood. We are currently trying to get a wifi setup to hookup through the schools firewall so I can monitor from a far when class is not in session.

The tank has a pretty healthy supply of an assortment of corals that I keep forgetting the names of. Certainly a few varieties of mushrooms, a few zoos and the entire back wall of star polyps. I'll try to rember to take a photo to post.

I have only one fish at this time, a black clown that my students call black Nemo (kind of nice for my very diverse student population)
I had a pistol shrimp & goby pair but they died a couple of months ago and I haven't gotten around to find new friends for my fish that won't grow too big...Nemo is pushing the limits now but I'd hate to see him go as the kids like to see fish. And my two snails are pretty damn boring too. Ideas?

The daily temperature fluctuations of the school had been my biggest concern but I think we have it under control in the tank. The tank has been set up in the room for about a year now. I have to bring in my water as the old building has too much rust in the system. If any one has an ingenious way to tote the five gallon cubes I'd love too see it.

Well that about sums it up.

Welcome to the forum, Brig. I have an introduction thread as well. I was hoping we could compare notes.

1) The original lights of the biocube 14, I believe, was 54w. How many watts are you running to grow your zoas and what is the bulb combination?

2) Temp swings are a major concerns. I just plugged in the digital thermometer and realized it was way above (82*F) the heater setting of 76* F. That's just 2 - 9 bulb strips which I have yet to identify. The temp swing is too big when lights go off and I am thinking of putting a PC fan on the hood.

I can only imagine what is happening with the pH.
I am almost convinced to make this tank rimless and buy a hanging fixture, but it truly defeats the purpose of AIO.

It was a conversion kit from rapid LED I believe I do not know how many LEDs around it I will have to go and count them when I get back to school. there are large temps swims I had to get a chiller

Welcome to CR. Love how it's in a HS science classroom. It's make me a bit nervous having it so far away most of the time, but the teaching potential is pretty amazing and has to be worth the risk.

You have one of the better LED upgrades.

Yikes, I was hoping a chiller would not be necessary. I am almost ready to chop up my tank with a dremel to install a 140mm PC fan.

Do you think this thing can do the job? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Aquarium-Th...64f563a&pid=100005&rk=4&rkt=6&sd=291167367743

My effective gallons is 12 with all the rocks and sand. I am not sure how Peltier cooler can handle high ambient temperatures which can be 100 deg in the summer . Perhaps I need overhead. I can't have the chiller making a racket.
