Issues with Mg

So I am having a pretty large issue with Mg and I really do not understand it at all....the test kit is Sera and not expired, ran the test 3 times. Two weeks ago added some corals to the tank, KH dropped from 9 to 5 in a week and I have since made two water changes and dosed to get it back up to 8. However my Mg is reading 600. Calcium is a bit high at 500 and nitrate and phos are undetectable. Should I pick up a new kit to verify the results or is there some possible underlying issue here I am clueless too? I use Reef Crystals.

Short background, tank crashed two years ago due to stuck heater....kept everything running with the one surviving Chromis and two hermits...a while ago got the itch back upgraded a bunch of equipment, and changed water aggressively to get parameters in line. Two weeks ago picked up some frags and while most seem very happy one of the acro's has shown no PE(no white tips though) and the birdsnest is getting white tips(other sps have good PE and are happy and the softies and LPS very happy). Just looking for insight as I have never ran into Mg issues before.

I would find someone to test your water before making changes to insure the test kit is good. That is a lot to be off on mg

yea thinks test kit is off with out doseing mg isn't that low in rc I use it and don't have to dose mag its never at 1300 but tank stays stable so I don't worry about it . no pe can be number of things . flow and lighting flow has lot to do with pe and bnest don't like high light we most don't . take water sample to a lfs see if they can test

Concur, 600 mg is almost unrealistically low....Get another test or have someone else test it for you.

Also, as far as the pe, I wouldn't get too bent out of shape about it, especially since your other sps have it. If they all loose their pe then I'd be very concerned. This one might still be acclimating.
