Jbj true temp heating system

I was using just the controller and had no problems with it but I had heard some horror stories. I keep it just as a back now bc I also don't trust it for long term use.
 
That thing caused my last tank crash. the controller malfunctioned and heated my tank, killing my SPS corals. I've used 2 in the past and the controller eventually f*%'d up in the end. you can use it, just have a back up controller.
As far as heater goes, I used one with a built in temp regulator, and then use another controller, just incase the heater controller malfunctions. Always good to have a backup controller for any heater that you use.
 
I use them on both of my tanks. The temp sensor is bad on the one so only the heater is used and the other onehas been fine. Both of them were used with my apex as a fallback though.
 
Have one. Its been demoted to the water change barrel . I had "Large" temp swings of almost 2 degrees when using it.

I have been using one for more than five years. the sensor was replaced last year, but other than that no problems.
