Hello everyone! I'm very new to this hobby. Impulse bought a Biocube 29 in January and had it overstocked by March! Was never really happy with a lot of different things I won't bore you with. I still have it and and happy with it i just think I have way to much stuff in there and may be stressing some livestock out. So this next one I'm hopefully going to make perfect! I wanted it more on the minimalist side and after weeks of buying base rock and searching for premade aquascapes, I ended up going with a branch like rock formation from Alternative Reef in Green Bay. And also bought a piece of limestone I had a buddy saw one side flat so I can have it standing up instead of laying down on it' side. Please take a look and let me know what you think. Like I said I'm very new and am very open to your opinions. I'll try to see if I can post a few pictures here...Thanks everyone!View attachment 16550View attachment 16551View attachment 16552

I can't see the pics so hopefully I did it right.

I also haven't bought sand yet. I started with pink fiji on the Biocube and ended up taking it out and going with crushed coral recently. Any thoughts?

it was great meeting you last week :)

i started with crushed coral but later replaced it with sand...but i think it's mostly a personal preference - i like white sand better...whitest i've come across is sand from Tropic Eden which you can get from Premium Aquatics (when they're not sold out)...depending on what you plan on keeping you can get fine grain sand which will blow all over the place if you have flow too high but is whiter/pinker than the larger flake sand which won't blow all over the place as easily with high flow

my advice is to figure out your sand now before putting it in the tank...it's a royal PITA later on if you decide to replace it

Looks good. I was in the opposite situation with a tank that was severely lacking livestock. I'm starting to build up now. I like the minimalist approach and am looking to do the same in my next setup here soon. Like Bryan said, I would figure out the substrate first as it is a hard thing to change later. Especially if you have fish that like to borrow. I have a diamond goby and a Michaels pistol shrimp that have tunnels all over my tank and it was done within a few days.

Pink Fiji is personally one of my favorites and my sand of choice in all 5 of my past builds as well as multiple customers builds. It's large enough the powerheads don't blow it everywhere, but small enough the goby can pass it without a problem.

Looking forward to seeing your build progress.

Thanks! I'm going back and fourth but I'm thinking of different types of zoanthids on each branch and see if they hopefully grow into eachother. And ideas?

Well it’s been awhile since I posted....a lot of ups and downs and changes. Here is what the tank looks like now. Damn I can’t upload a video and it’s still tough taking pics. What you think?
