try putting it in the shade to get the color back. sometimes the sb is still too intense if you want to keep the multi-colors in some acans, or least several of mine have been like that.

+1. Try shading it a bit. Acans need very low amount of light, or they pretty much turn orange. And if they were wild, probably will eventually change colors.

I think that it looks fantastic, but if you want to try to get it to what I had in the first picture, don't be afraid to give it SOME light; when I shot the above acan, it had been getting too much light on the top rack of the tank, so I moved it to the bottom. This color pattern was as it was morphing to its lower light pattern. If you can find the balance, you're golden. I sort of like your pattern more, though. :)

Thanks ben! I actually moved it up a week ago or so to the mid tank level to see what it would do. I'll be sure to post a pic here if anything changes. This is a great piece and I'd buy it again I a heartbeat. Thanks again, Ben.

Thanks guys, I wasn't really "complaining" about the coloration, I just thought it would be cool to show how much acans can change from tank to tank. For the record I think both variations are very nicely colored.

Updates on the acan? I know that a certain Walt finally picked his up from a certain hobbit. That handoff only took three months.

Looking great, still! I still hate how LEDs tend to turn acans to warmer colors. That's why we're switching to T5s for LPS colonies. :)
