Here is a short video of my Koi fish in for the winter. Most were eaten by nasty racoons that still resides in the neighbors garage. The surviving(smaller) were later scooped out by some kind of bird. Pelican(sp) or something. Sad really. This was one of my favorite hobbies. Raising Koi and building pods. The pond was 1700 gallons with waterfalls a bridge and lots of stone. 5ft deep on one end and 2ft on other. My step dad decided it was a good idea to add an area to just stand and put your feet in. He in turn gave a nice place for the racoons to fish and tore a hole in my $400 liner. The pond is still running, but has no fish; just mosquito larvae and algae. I moved out... lol

This is the original 1700 gallon pond. It was a true 5 foot deep. I had to go swimming to fix rocks all the time. To give you an idea it nearly 20 feet long 8 ft at is widest and origionally 5 to2ft deep. It had many shapes and waterfalls over the years. I also had another 200 gallon molly pond with tons of lily pads and frogs. the birds eat the mollies really fast.

Much less expensive than this hobby and easier. The fish would grow nearly three inch a year. In the first video there is a 12" orange guy and my fav a silver one. I love all white koi. especially the fancy tailed guys. I payed from $20 to $90 for each fish. I had over forty at once. I always used gold fish to start them in the spring. Whatever koi i could catch went inside. The remaining usually died from rock slides and mother nature.

That's pretty cool bro...I've always liked and wanted a koi pond. I like seeing the one in Steve (skunkerX) back yard.

I just went to the Midwest Koi & GF show last night & there were kois larger than my dog there! Some were absolutely stunning.
