LED mounting

Hey everyone,

So I have two LEDs that I picked up on the most recent group buy and I'm trying to figure out how to mount/ hang them over my system. Its a 75 gallon with u tube overflow. Ill be building a canopy once I swap over to a drilled tank but for now Id like something temporary and safe. I'd like to avoid anything that attaches to my stand and the thought of a dangling light dropping into my tank terrifies me.. What are everyone's thoughts?

i would get some 2x4's for feet and use pvc pipe up and across. then be sure to use steel cables so you dont get a light in the water. or get some conduit and bend it, again using steel cables to secure lights

I'm leaning toward mounting conduit to the stand now.. but my issue is the lip on my stand. If I bent the conduit around the lip would this compromise the strength? I would have two parallel pipes running over the tank. View attachment 12706

use the conduit straps to mount it. mount one at bottom of stand and other to the lip on the stand. this will give you an even surface to mount to. With the 2x4's you could go down to the floor or top of the tank. either way would work. i would go top of the tank and paint the wood black. or if its against a wall. you could even get metal shelf brackes, that have a loop on the end for the carribeaners. i have seen them at menards on 34. they would be visually appealing and very sturdy if put in studs. then you could even have a shelf above for supplies or knick knacks for the wifey

Check the pics in my 45way thread if you want to see an idea on the conduit. I attached 1x3s to the back of the stand vertically between the top and bottom trim to fix the" lip" issue. If you use the conduit straps it's nice because you can use a screw as a vertical stopper so the height is somewhat adjustable.

Get two nice L brackets, attach to the wall and hang. You can attach a wood shelve on top too. Make sure you hit the stud though or get the bolts that spring open inside the wall. I forget what they are called.

Dude I did the 2x4's and it looks like trash. I eventually hung mine and trust me its solid. I'm hanging 8 ai sol modules and there's no chance they are falling unless you jump on them.
