lighting maroon captive bred for sale

up to $6,100 w/ 14 hrs to go.

Definitely a nice fish, but the article 'releasing' news of the first batch being born had some way nicer ones in my opinion, they were actual 'lightning strike' markings verses just the cluster on this one. I'm sure this auction is a 'feeler' for many more to come/to determine a price-point.

Blue zoo is smart; there's no way they'd show their ace in the hole before the flop.

I'm also assuming is a rare recessive gene so no guarantee all babies will be 'lightning' even if both parents are. However, even if there is a tiny band apparently it will sell for thousands - would suck to drop $10k and have the fish die in 6mths.

They're maroons. They're bulletproof, literally.

It can't be too rare judging from the clutch that he has raised. That fact that there are a few handfuls of the "lightening" like markings makes me think this has to be a pretty dominant trait. The question is, why isn't PNG running wild with this morph.

even if you could make something everyone wants at will you would hold it back to make the price higher. My prediction: they'll find a few suckers to buy this fish at $6100 and then when they tap that market I'll be able to get a mean clown with a lightening pattern at sho tank for $40. If they can make them and people will buy them, they will sell them. The market is just determining the correct price point right now.

I don't think there was a reserve on these guys, I could be wrong, but it doesn't seem like PNG is the one hiking up the price, besides the fact that they only released a few of them. I doubt you will see them going for $40 any time soon, considering all the other types of "designer" clowns that are being bred in very high numbers still come with a large price tag.
