Lighting questions

dimensions of tank? I'd say you'd be best with a 4 bulb fixture.

this post should be in the equipment forum... along with your other one. Next time try to start one thread as they are the same.

defiantly 4 bulbs as a minimum. If you think you're going to get into some stoney corals do a 6 bulb fixture. You don't have to use all six bulbs (leave 2 empty), but then you have the option without having to buy a new light. I would recommend a 6 bulb, the price difference is nominal and then you'll have more options available to you.

+1

I'm more a fan of LEDs but this is the way to go since you're on the fence. A 6 bulb would do wonders for sps too.

Tek 6x54w fixture. It's built very well, has amazing refectors for the price. It's "almost" like buying an ATI fixture for half the price. I would dare even suggest going with the 8 bulb fixture, leaving the back 2 bulbs out, and using 2 low par actinic bulbs to supplement color. This is what I've got going on with my tank. I have 2 blue+ bulbs, 2 actinic 03 bulbs, a purple bulb, and a crisp daytime bulb and get a beautiful ~17000k daytime look. I also have a warmer ge 6500k daytime bulb that pushes the tank to a 14000k daytime color. This is enough light to keep everything in my tank happy, including my haddoni carpet on the sand. Plus I can always throw 2 more bulbs in if needed in the future. You can do so much more with an 8 bulb fixture, even if you only ever need 6.
