Has anyone here ever feed there tank exclusively live food, the exception being sea weed or something for herbivores?

Yes exactly phytoplankton pods rotifers feeder fish! And algae sheets for herbivores. No prepared foods. Just create a food chain for homeostasis!

I have a friend who tried this out and just the sheer amount you'd need of little critters in order to correctly maintain a healthy ecosystem is costly. I'd watch very carefully with live fish unless your setup can handle it because if one of those little guys gets caught under a rock or somewhere it's pretty much the same as a fish dying in your tank that would cause a spike in parameters. It could work but you also risk the diseases feeder fish carry. If you do try I'd really like to see a detailed post on it including spikes and such.

No dought. I only have a pair of clowns. And gone mostly sps. And when I add pods the feeding response from everything is nuts. So ill keep it updated. This weekend I'll be getting a mother type of phytoplankton and rotifers. I think if it goes good I'm gonna put in a gargonia and see how it does. I haven't seen anyone keep one that was nps alive in person. But so far the last few weeks I have been cutting back on my prepared foods and my clowns look great still. I'm also feeding the pods other stuff besides nanocloropsis as its skin is hard for pods to get through. And a variety will fill them with more fats.

When I was doing seahorses I tried to do this. The reality is that I'm way too lazy to keep the food alive to keep the fish alive. The goofy contraptions, space, mess, time. This is why god invented Rod.

And I barely have any maintenance on my tank. No water changes no sump to mess with. Cleaning the glass is my biggest hassle!
