I removed about 35-40 lbs of live rock from my tank last weekend, the various pieces had some kinda sponge growth on them,
and some other stuff maybe brysopsis or somthin similar

I removed the rock & left it on my porch deck to dry out and bake in the sun four a few days...

can I just stick it back in my tank now or must it be treated first ?>

Definitely cure it first. That stuff is basically just dead organic matter and will rot in the tank. If the ammonia spike doesn't get te tank the nitrates later will.

You could put it back into your tank a piece at a time giving each piece time to re-establish into LR. Your good bacteria should handle any ammonia from the die off.

I am with Ted on this one. It needs to be cured before going back, not worth the risk of ammonia or/and nitrate spike. Or you can bleach it overnight, this will get rid of any organic matter on it( 1 part bleach to 10 parts water), then rinse it in RO water and let it air dry for couple of days until there is no more bleach smell. You can put it back in your tank then, bacteria will colonize this rock with time.

Track fast is correct if your tank is a decent size rinse it off and do as Victor stated . If this is a bad thing my tank should have crashed years ago. I do it all the time to kill those blue cloves and purple coraline that I get sick of.
If you have a nano one fish over feeding can spike your tank.

I would be much less worried about the spike and way more annoyed by the immense amount of nutrients (nitrate) that will end up getting released unnecessarily into the system.
