Live Shipping Issues

Just wanted to get this out there and see if anyone else has had similar issues.

Sunday evening I placed an order via ReefCleaners for a CUC for my 75g tank. It was shipped yesterday and was set to arrive today. I told my mom to be home so she could receive the package. I happened to check my email before going to lunch and saw that the package was delivered via USPS. I checked the details online and it had this comment, "Waiver of signature was exercised at time of delivery." So I texted my mom and told her the package arrived.

She called me and told me that they did not ring the doorbell, knock, or show any sign of dropping off the package. Even though the box said perishable contents, knock on door or ring doorbell.

Luckily it wasn't hot or very cold outside, but this form of unprofessionalism is absurd. How hard is it to ring a doorbell when you drop off a package? You already had to walk the package over, it doesn't take much more to ring the doorbell. Although they were probably mad they had to get out of their truck in the first place.

I just wanted to share my story with everyone and find out if other people had similar issues with a particular courier. I also filed a complaint to USPS about this. Luckily all that was in the package was a CUC and it was nice out. If it was cold/hot and it had fish/corals I would be in a much more unpleasant mood about the situation.

As a side note, one of the bags with an emerald crab burst and my mom said he barely had any water, he is currently recooping in a bin of water. Hopefully he recovers so I can put him in the tank when I get home.

USPS has horrible service. You should opt for ups or fedex for delivery. Hope he is ok. You should file a law suit for animal abuse. Lol

I can relate 100% to this problem! I don't trust any of the carriers in my area, hence, I try and just buy locally now - someone else can deal with shipping :) My recent shipment, ironically also from Reefcleaners via USPS just resulted in a "we missed you" slip and to drop by the post office tomorrow... Even though I was home all day waiting for the package (among other things). That pissed me off, I lost a bag of snails due to that...

I've had all three major shipping companies do that to me. Pisses me off every time.

More annoying to me than that is when I'm expecting a package from usps, I'm home when the mail comes, go out to check and find one of their "attempted to deliver package" slips in the mailbox! BS, I was home! You never came to the door! Lazy bastards just don't want to get out and walk a few steps...

With USPS, if my regular mailman delivers, he always rings my doorbell, unfortunately even if it's for my neighbor upstairs :argh: Now if it's someone filling in for him, I get no ringing whatsoever. Usually I just keep checking if the package has arrived.

Fedex, they suck, bad.. They continually leave my packages right outside my door, without ringing the bell. I ordered an iMac last summer, and since I work from home, I heard the van pull up. I looked outside and saw him walking back to his van, so I yelled "yo" lol! He said oh, yeah your package is right by the door. WTF? Dude that's a pretty expensive gift for the neighborhood kids. Not sure how they get around the signature, because for that, he definitely needed my signature. I called and complained, but normally I don't.

UPS on the other hand, the dude knows me pretty well so when he pulls up, he honks his horn. I can usually hear them pull up though anyways.

Did you do the regular shipping, or express? I'm thinking of ordering, but wondering how long regular priority mail takes to deliver from florida.

I used to have this problem but now I luckily have a doorman that knows me well and always calls me right away when I have a live order coming in.
