So i'm picking up a FOWLR tank....he treated it with the amount recommended for his system 2 years ago for ICH . I have a reef. What is my best option with the live rock...and what about the sand? Will it leach...My plans were to tranfer my 220 into his 240 using my water rock ect...but keeping his sand. I'd rather be safe then sorry. Any advice? Thanks in advance.

Oh boy this is gonna cause a debate lol from my true experiance because im the only one here nutty enough to try i have treated all my rock sand tank plus equipment with copper twice in 10 yrs now granted it was a while back but its now a sps only reef with zero issues besides ones i cause once in blue moon . With that said its same sand and rocks and most equipment is original besides power heads . I ran lots of carbon for 8 months before a coral would grow ran few yrs with softies then went full blown sps. If i did it again i would clean tank with vinegar toss the sand and bleach the rocks and rinse and let dry. More to make sure no pest believe it or not copper dont kill pods in fact before i took fowlr down few weeks ago i collected pods from that sump to put in pony and reef tank every week . Again just my oppinion and i might be the only one who can actually say hes done it . You will get alot of no way everything ruined throw away it leaches to each there own i dont need anyone to tell me if its possible or not i know the answer . Good luck but use it as barganing tool get it cheaper say hey its ginna leach copper i gotta replace it all take money off lol

Yea I don't NEED the rock....I have enough in mine...but thought about using it for my daughters 40 gallon. Just thought if it wasn't safe to use if there was a way to make it usable again in a reef. So eventually I could put it in hers.

we have to redo our flooring and i hate the height of my tank 29" i can barely reach the bottom....and instead of moving it from the tank to a stock tank....redoing the floor and then moving it back into the tank...we're getting a shorter tank..putting it in a different room...moving stuff from tank to new tank. plus i gain 24 inches of floor space.
