Making a bigger opening on Ventura stand?

So I got the standard Ventura Stand that is usually sold with a Marineland 60 gallon cube. My problem is that with the small opening (it's about 13in by 25in) I'm so limited on the amount of space I can see and access especially when it comes to the sump.

Now my question is, would it be a bad idea to cut some of the access wood to make a bigger entrance and maybe replace the swing door with a bigger one? Or would that be a bad idea..

As you can tell, there's not much of an opening for me to access the back of the sump or work around under the tank.

Why not center the sump in the opening? I have the same stand as you and have my sump in the same position as you. Personally I wouldn't mess with the integrity of the stand....more so aesthetically might be more of a hassle making it look right with a larger door

I think those stands come with a life time warranty and pretty sure that would void it. It would probably hold but not sure I would try it. Maybe you could reinforce it with a vertical 2x4 in each front corner? Just a thought... Still not sure I would do that.

Hmmm I guess you're right, I wouldn't want to cut a piece of the opening off to find out later when I fill the tank up the whole thing collapses on me and I not only lose the stand but everything in the tank too. I guess I'll just have to bite my tongue and leave it as is haha.

I mean I probably could do that too, but voiding the life time warranty would probably be more of a loss than gambling with the stand and tank lol.
