Menard with a Riptide Prototype

his tank is amazing but his idea of multiples is where im leaning as well . cant wait to see the price
point

Yeah, I've been following it. I have a small tank and would just need the smallest one. It would be great if one can replace a few of my current pumps.

just read on another thread elsewhere and sounds like they will have own controller with speeds /reverse/and pulse . sounds interesting . these china pumps are working fine for me but man they are fugly lol

This is just the prototype. wait when they come out with the new controller. this thing is like curling iron very discreet u can hide it anywhere in the tank, moves tons of water. In my tank I'm gonna need 3 of this since now that corals are becoming larger flows become less and less I'm gonna need all flow that the oceans created. lol. We tried the same pump downstairs in my frag tank and that tank is 5' X 2' X1' and boy I see no dead spot water is moving rather aggresively and blow away my 2 pump that is used to create motion I have 1 mp40 and old rio pump.

My 250 is rocking now but if I can do it with lest power consumption I'm open. Electric bill is alway on my mind and ways to get same results and lower it.

What is the point of having more than one? Wouldn't that defeat the purpose of having a gyre? Unless 2 can be synced perfectly to increase it I just don't get it. 3 really makes no sense

You might be right and that is why I would like to see someone do it first. I'm not sure if it's just the outward push that causes if or if the suction from the other end helps pull water back.

If it's a push and pull I'm sure there would be no harm in more than 1. If it's just the pushing effect than i think more then 1 would ruin it.

One thing I notice tho the power dips down at 4' mark and pulls water back unless they come up with larger version. my tank is 8' long and deep so i would need 2 and 1 position dead center pushing water front to back this will create crazy azz flow. the gyre motion would be depend what size tank u have.

Would you share any thoughts on build quality Menard? It this going to last? Is it difficult to tear down for regular cleaning?

How long did you have it in your tank? In the video the guy mentioned something like 30 minutes. If that's it and you were as satisfied as you said it just be pretty damn good.

Did they really take it back lol

The construction is the same material as the power head of today same plastic. As for reg. cleaning of the pump fairly easy quik disconect. I cant say weather this thing would last longer only time will tell and also depends on one self how he cares for his things.

Long enough to witness the motion of water, gyre effect. The prototype has manual speed setting so u got low med high only. At full speed it can only travel 4' and goes back

Glad I'm going from a 5ft 120 to a 4ft 120 then! Lol

So do you now get first dibs at one? Or three lol

I have a three foot tank. I wonder if I'd be able to scrap my 2 MP10's and 2 WP10's.

My rock, however, goes up to both sides of the tank. I'm thinking that the rock would interfere with the gyre. It would be awesome in my frag tank, however!

I'll have to get one and check it out!
