moon lights for corals

So the 2 LED fixtures i have come each with 3 moon lights. I am not keeping them on all night. For now, I just gave them continuing after everything goes off for 3 hrs and run them at 5%. They turn off by 10:30pm. Should I keep them going all night or is my timing fine? I have noticed though that win the moon lights on, most of the zoas stay open but everything else stays closed.

I think the moon lights are more for our viewing then the coral itself. I have mine on a timer and they stay on all night while my main lights are off.

Moonlights are aesthetics, and don't provide enough lighting for photosynthesis. You definitely wouldn't want them on all night though, it would be like dusk all night.

I don't see why it would hurt anything. Unless there is heavy cloud cover there is always some natural lighting in nature from stars and the moon.

Natural moonlight and blue LEDs are far from the same. The amount of moonlight that penetrates the waters surface is almost nothing. It's so weak in comparison most of it bounces off the surface. Been there at night myself to see it.

The moonlight cycle can induce spawning and the moon is white like Yogoshio say. I have been considering the MLC and some white lites for a while to add the moonlight cycle. My tank is in the basement so the only light the tank gets is what I give it. So to answer your question no idea what the effects of the blue are if left on all the time.
