Moving a 120

Ok guys need some input here, haven't been on much lately because I finally moved out of my moms house! Woo hoo!!!!

Now the hard part... Moving the 120 from her house to my apartment (first floor thank god).

I'm not sure if I should try moving it all in one day or take my time? Opinions?

Also can I reuse my sand? Is it possible to drain water, remove rock and leave the sand in the bottom? It's a deep sand bed.

If I have to remove the sand to move the tank will that release unwanted crap into the water column?

I'm at a loss on what to do.

Any companies around here that would do the work and at a reasonable price?

I'd do it all in one shot but do not reuse the sand from a dsb. You'll release all kinds of bad stuff. Siphon off l if the water into buckets/jugs and remove live rock. Throw away the sand. Get the tank in place at the new place and put in live rock and old water. Top of with new salt water. As new sand.

If you're in a situation where your housing is temporary and you may move in a year or less, I'd recommend using aragonite instead of sand. If you have to move again, you can just vacuum it really well and reuse it. You cannot do that with sand. You lose the biological filtration of a dsb, and you have to vacuum it often, but I prefer it to sand because you can keep it really clean.

Btw. I moved my old 90 four times. PITA, but no big deal.

I've moved many tanks with DSB. I kept my sand. I have removed sand and let sit in tank when moving. I've moved sps dominated, mixed, and softie only tanks with no issue. Maybe I got lucky but I did not have issues reusing the sand. I do make sure to siphon the top 1/2 inch. Lots of waste settles after removing rock.
