As some of you remember...I was having issues with my old landlord... anywho my wife and i just closed on a new house. Tore down the 125 with 55 sump and set up a 100 gallon stock tank in my new place...

Long story short. Used 50% old water and 50% new. Didn't use the old sand. This waiting game to see if I'll have RTN or STN is killing me. Do I have reason to be worried?

Moving is definitely a reason to worry. Just be diligent about checking your parameters and doing propped husbandry on the tank and you'll be good!

Congrats on the house!

Did you use your old rock?

I did a 400gallon tear down and setup a 700g with all new water. Took 2 days but didn’t have one loss. Coral and fish. As long as you used your old rock and params are all in check.

Thanks everyone!

Wow, a 700 gallon that's crazy, I'll have to check your threads for pictures! I opted for upgrading to a 210 because nothing else would fit in my basement door with a 45 degree turn.

So far everything is still in the Rubbermaid 100 gallon tub. Out of some 100 different sps frags I lost only a TCK pikachu and TCK rainbow explosion... but still a big loss for me. 210 is being filled and plumbed....slowly....

Anyway. So my current dilemma... my tank came drilled with 4 holes only fitting up to 1 inch bulkheads. It came with 2 durso drains and 2 x 3/4" returns with lockline at the ends.

However I want at least one emergency drain. I want the first overflow with a herbie style drain (full siphon with gate valve and 1 emergency) and the second overflow with 1 full siphon with gate valve and 1" return line. Is just 1 x 1" return line enough?

Congratulations one the new house man. I think I remember it was your sister inlaw that u rented from right. Any ways setting up new tank is always a worry gonna have cycles and all the joys a new tank brings lol. Ive done it few times honestly most successful was when i used the old sand went up easy minor cycles. This time I opted to use new sand and I definitely see the difference . Its finally settling down either way i had minor losses really. Always have salt water made just in case definitely helps to be able to do water change on the fly. I used prime for ammonia spikes some say dont but my fish appreciated me having it. Good luck

I have 3 bulkheads on mine.

1 full siphon, 1 trickle, 1 emergency. I don’t see the need for more. You only need turnover enough for what your skimmer wants. Your flow inside the tank shouldn’t be dependent on the return pump. That’s what powerheads are for :)

My plumbing is 1-1/2” tho. I still think you’re more then fine.

Yea I finally got my large system lol. I’ll be adding more to it eventually but we just moved in and getting all settled. Display is 400g, frag tank and the rest makeup the 300g or more, I’m just guessing reasonably lol.

If you can find some actually good rock when you put up the new tank I would. I know it’s hard to find some nice rock, but it will help when you move. Either way make sure salinity and temp are good before you bring things over to the new one. Just take your time and plan it out
